Departure time: 08:00

The drive to Sutjeska National Park will take us a little less than
2 hours. The park is a true gem in terms of the wildlife and large number
of endemic plants. The park also includes Bosnia and Herzegovina's highest
and impressive mountain, Maglic, named after the thick fog that often
surround its rocky peak. We will leave our car behind at a viewpoint
Dragos Sedlo with colorful view of the one of two remaining mediaeval
forests in Europe - Perucica. Jumping out from eternity, we are graced
by a lonely waterfall "Skakavac" plunging itself 75 meters
down into the dark spruce and beech forest of Perucica.
Starting at the entrance of this ancient outdoor museum we disappear
into the magical forest of beautiful 50 meter high spruce and beech
trees. Our two-hour journey will be over before you know it. Impressions
are bountiful, especially the cycle of life and death of 200 to 300
year old trees. We are small, young and the trip will humble all our
aspirations and ambitions..... welcome to Perucica.
After a short break we slowly descend 600 meters through Black Pine
forests before we arrive in Suha a beautiful closed corner in the heart
of Sutjeska Canyon.

a dip. The surrounding valleys are great for wandering into the evening
hours as you prepare for the ascent Bosnia’s highest peak in the
morning.
Day 2: We start early up the steep slopes of Maglic’s southeastern
face. The lake gets tinier and tinier as we traverse up the to the high
ridge that will lead us to Maglic’s peak. It’s a good four
hour ascent to the countries highest point. We’ll have lunch on
top before scrambling down to the lake for a rest and to pack before
we head back up the trail to our jeep. It’s a long and demanding
day, but well worth the effort.
For the duration of the trip we may encounter the vast range of wildlife
that roams this untamed land. Eagles, bears, wolves, snakes, and wild
goats are not rare sightings in these parts.

2,015 meters and Kozje Strane at 2,014 m. Below us sits quietly the
serene waters of Gornje Bare’s Lake, which just recently shed
